New series alert! I have such a love for beautiful manicures that I decided to share my polish picks each month! (If any of you have a great title idea for this, let me know! Polish Picks is taken my one of my fave YouTubers, and I'm no copier!!)
In addition to my the polishes I wore in July, to celebrate the first post in this series, I also have a review for you!
Let's do the review first! I've been looking for a base coat to not only help my manicure last longer, but to strengthen my nails, as well. I didn't want to spend too much, so when I saw this all in one from Essie, I knew I had to try it. Price wise, it's middle of the road at $8.00. It is easily accessible at Walgreens or Target. And the name has a reputation for good things.
The product boats benefits as a base coat, a strengthener, and a top coat. Did it live up to it's claims?
As a base coat and strengthener, I love it! My nail polish stays looking fresh at least a day longer than normal. Where I really notice a difference, though, is in the strength of my nail. They not only feel thicker, but they don't snag or peel as much as before either! That is success in my book!
As a top coat, the shine leaves a lot to be desired. I prefer the el cheap-o NYC Grand Central Station top coat, which leaves an out-of-this-world shine to my nails!
All in all, I love it! The less than desirable shine factor is not enough to stop me from using this as a base coat. Love it!
Now, on to the colors!!
Color Club Gossip Column- I don't think this color is available anymore, but I'm sure you can find it on Amazon or Ebay. The color is beautiful, but didn't last too long before chippage occurred. I'm interested to try it with the Essie base coat next time! (I won this nail polish, along with Susie below, as part of a giveaway at Glimpses of the Moon.)
Julep Gloria & Vivien-(Error in the photo above: Veronica should really say Vivien. Oops!) I've worn these colors separate and together several times this summer. Both are gorgeous!
Sation Love At First Byte- I received this unknown polish brand in an Ipsy bag. I love the subtle peach color. I can't find a link for the company, though.
Nailtini Mai Tai- It's a gorgeous deep orange with a red tint to it...just like the sunset! I knew I loved the Nailtini formula, but when Ipsy sent this color in the July Ipsy bag, wow!! I loved the color, too!
Sally Hansen Sea- I am so disappointed with this color! I love the Sally Hansen brand and other pastels in this line have been beautiful. But, this formula was super streaky. It didn't have a lot of color payoff, either. I ended up taking it off the very next day and changing it to...
Julep Susie- Now this was more like it! I was craving a mint green manicure and that's exactly what I got! The Julep formula is on the thicker side and sets up beautifully!
Essie Nude Beach- A friend called me and said The Christmas Tree Shoppe had Essie nail polish at about 60% off. I happened to be right in that area, so of course I stopped in! Unfortunately, they were down to only one color to choose from, but at the price, I couldn't go wrong. It is a very pale pinkish white with shimmer. It is almost clear on the nail, but would be nice for work or someplace that a bright, fun manicure wouldn't be appropriate. I'm interested to use it as a shimmer top coat.
I'm looking forward to sharing my polish colors each month, if you are interested! Let me know: Do you like posts like this? What colors did you wear in July?
